We are delighted to offer for sale this wonderful head and shoulders miniature portrait of Irish origin, Circa 1810.  Artist unknown.

The picture depicts Sophia Dorothea, daughter of Dr George Kiernan, MD, MRLA.  Sophia was born 23rd April 1787 and Died 20th February 1820.  Please note that we will also be selling a portrait of her father, Dr George Kiernan, separately under stock reference 519/11.

Watercolour on paper.

Mounted behind its original glass and set within its original ebonised and gesso / gilt frame.  

Provenance - We understand that this picture formed part of the 1949 disposal of the contents of Earl Ferrers country seat known as Staunton Harold Hall, Ashby-de-la-Zouche, Leicestershire which remains in existence today.  Please see the attached link for further details of the hall;

Born 23rd April 1787: married 29 October 1809: Died at Hearitree Exeter 15 February 1820"
