A Rare Irish Antique Miniature Portrait of Dr George Kiernan, MD, MRLA, Circa 1810 - Provenance - from the 1949 disposal sale of the contents of Staunton Harold Hall, Home of Earl Ferrers

We are delighted to offer for sale this wonderful head and shoulders miniature portrait of Irish origin, Circa 1810.  Artist unknown.

The picture depicts Dr George Kiernan, MD, MRLA.  Born 1754 - Died 1811 of Blackhall and Drumcondra, Co. Dublin. Please note that we will also be selling a portrait of his daughter, Sophie Dorothea, separately under stock reference 520/11.

Watercolour on paper.

Mounted behind its original glass and set within its original ebonised and gesso / gilt frame.  A worn label is apparent at the bottom of the frame stating "George Keirnan, MD, MRLA, Professor of Chemistry, Born 1754 Died 1811".

Provenance - We understand that this picture formed part of the 1949 disposal of the contents of Earl Ferrers country seat known as Staunton Harold Hall, Ashby-de-la-Zouche, Leicestershire which remains in existence today.  Please see the attached link for further details of the hall;


Label verso states "George Kiernan of Blackhall and Drumcondra Co Dublin Born 25 January 1754 Died at Drumcondra 27th May 1811."
