Information

A wonderful 17th Century English antique oak joined writing table, circa 1680. This is for the purist as it is offered in original "untouched" barn found condition where it has never been altered or repaired since the day it was made!

Sourced from a private Norfolk estate.

Similar examples can be seen in Victor Chinnery's Book, "Oak Furniture The British Tradition" - Revised Edition 2016 - page 340, plate 3:441.

These tables appeared at the end of the 17th Century when furniture started to be used for more social functions such as writing although the exact use of some pieces isn't always apparent.

With orignal plank top and single drop leaf supported over a gateleg with bobbin and fillet turned legs and bobbin turned stretchers.

Condition - completely original including the butterfly hinges which connect the drop leaf to the carcass. One hinge is slightly loose. Wear to the stretchers as per the images.  A fabulous and original period piece of furniture
