Blackjacks are a very English tradition and were used as tankards. Larger vessels/jugs also exist and are known as "bombards".
Formed on a mould from wet leather, earlier examples were then hand stitched together.
This example was made as a tankard.
Condition - as per images. With wonderful patination gathered through age.
