This charming late 15th Century offertory box is rare survivor from the late Medieval Period of English history.
Also known as a poor box, alms box or mite box, these were used to collect coins for charitable purposes.
Sourced within East Anglia, the box is fully bound in iron and nailed to the wooden carcass. The coin aperture is at the top.
Completely original throughout even down to its hasp - the only thing we don't have is the key to open it!
