19/03/20 - An Important Update Regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) 19th March 2020

Holt Antique Furniture Ltd and its related Companies would like to update you on what's happening at our antiques store “Holt Antiques at Walsingham Mill” with the increased threat of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

As you know, the Coronavirus outbreak is continuing to spread and is now described by international health authorities as a global pandemic. We are continuously monitoring the advice from the government, Public Health England (PHE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

We must act responsibly, more than ever before, during this very difficult period, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both staff and customers alike.

It is with the above that we have had to make the difficult decision to close Walsingham Mill until further notice. The Mill will re-open when guidelines say it is safe to do so.

Much of our stock is available to purchase via this website where we are committed to maintaining our outstanding level of service. Please see:

The Management Team at Holt Antiques would like to encourage everyone of you to take care during this testing period for us all.

Late 18th Century English Antique Mahogany-cased 8-day Duration Longcase Clock with Ship Automata by Joshua Davy of Norwich

A late 18th Century mahogany-cased 8-day duration longcase clock, the typical Norfolk case with arched hood and “whales tail” pediment and ball-and-spike brass finials. With overhanging cornice over free-standing columns to a moulded throat and long arched trunk door (with “thumb-nail” shaped top to the door, again a Norfolk tradition) supported on a plinth base.

The 12” arched brass dial with rocking ship automata over cast and applied foliate spandrels enclosing a Roman and Arabic chapter ring with outside minute track and enclosing subsidiary seconds and signed “Josh Davy – Norwich”, with blued-steel pierced hands to an aoosciated movement with false plate and united by four knopped pillars with anchor escapement and hourly strike on a bell.
