19/03/20 - An Important Update Regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) 19th March 2020

Holt Antique Furniture Ltd and its related Companies would like to update you on what's happening at our antiques store “Holt Antiques at Walsingham Mill” with the increased threat of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

As you know, the Coronavirus outbreak is continuing to spread and is now described by international health authorities as a global pandemic. We are continuously monitoring the advice from the government, Public Health England (PHE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

We must act responsibly, more than ever before, during this very difficult period, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both staff and customers alike.

It is with the above that we have had to make the difficult decision to close Walsingham Mill until further notice. The Mill will re-open when guidelines say it is safe to do so.

Information

A fine 17th Century Swedish School antique oil 1/4-length portrait of Gustaf Ulf Bond Klasson. 

Portrayed wearing a wig, stock, armoured breastplate and blue velvet coat.

Circle of Micheal Dahl - Michael Dahl (1659–1743) was a Swedish portrait painter who lived and worked in England most of his career and died here. He was one of the most internationally known Swedish painters of his time. He painted portraits of many aristocrats and some members of royal families, such as Queen Anne of Great BritainPrince George of Denmark and the exiled Queen Christina of Sweden.

Presented in a period gesso oval frame.

Provenance: From the estate of the late Baroness Leijonhufvud.

Condition - some age-related surface dirt. Some surface craqueleur and minor degradation to the surface varnish, specifically to the left of his neck above the left shoulder. The canvas has been re-lined.

A good looking portrait which displays very well and would grace any home.
